20 WWE Extreme Rules Facts You Didn't Know
13. Never Been A Tag Match...
And yet despite that plethora of unconventional match-types that the PPV has seen, there has never been a straight two-on-two tag match on the show’s main card.
The closest we got to such a match was in 2009 when Mickie James and Kelly Kelly faced Beth Phoenix and Rose Mendes—but that match was in fact a dark match that took place prior to the actual show.
And while we saw tag matches in 2011 and 2013, they were in fact lumberjack and tornado tags respectively.
Days ago, it looked like this run would end when the New Day were announced as no.1 contenders to Cesaro and Tyson Kidd’s Tag Team Championship. That match has since been consigned to the pre-show though.
Alas, the wait for a conventional tag bout continues.
