On three separate occasions, the current holder of one of WWE's world championships has entered the Rumble match, with a view to ensconcing their glory further.

That wasn't strictly the case for WWE Champion Roman Reigns in 2016, who was forced to defend his title in the event's eponymous match, only to come unstuck by Triple H. Brock Lesnar memorably tried to bag himself a night off at WrestleMania 35 in 2020's edition, but was hoisted by his eventual 'Mania conqueror Drew McIntyre after blitzing through half of the competitors.

The final man who doubled their distinction was, of course, Hulk Hogan. And he succeeded! The world champ bested all-comers in 1990 - including a certain snarling Intercontinental Champion in The Ultimate Warrior, famously setting up their WrestleMania VI programme in the process.
