20 WWE Royal Rumble Undercard Nightmares
18. Ahmed Johnson Vs Jeff Jarrett (1996)
Following an acrimonious exit from WWE in mid-1995, Jeff Jarrett's surprise return in December came with a brutal assault on newcomer Ahmed Johnson.
Attacking Johnson with a series of nasty shots to the head with his framed platinum album and a steel chair, Jarrett put the 'Pearl River Powerhouse' on notice, and set-up a fairly high profile return programme in the process.
Johnson was undefeated at this point, and had made waves early in his WWE tenure by slamming the enormous Yokozuna and dazzling audiences with his high-impact offence and visually imposing presence.
With Jarrett's talent and the glow around Johnson, the match could and should have sparkled, with 'Double J' gaining cheap advantages over his bigger adversary before succumbing to Johnson's strength and gifting Ahmed a huge pinfall victory early in his career.
Disappointing as a match and (as it would turn out) a payoff, the clash ran only six minutes when Jarrett abruptly ended things with a guitar shot to Ahmed's head right in view of the referee after Johnson had reversed his Figure Four Leglock seconds earlier. Jeff left the promotion again weeks later, leaving most wondering why he'd bothered returning at all.
