20 WWE Rumours About The Undertaker That Proved To Be Bulls**t

18. Retiring In 1997

Several respected wrestling journalists were reporting in 1997 that The Undertaker was in rough physical shape. It was true. He's been worn down and chronically injured for years. That inevitably gave way to some really strong retirement rumours in 97, with even Meltzer's Wrestling Observer Newsletter reporting on backstage chatter about Undertaker's future in the business. It really did look like he didn't have much time left as an active wrestler, and there was talk that 97 would be his final year before retiring. But, as we now well and truly know, there was no truth to the retirement rumour. Not only did Taker have a long run with the WWF title in 1997, and a match of the year with Shawn Michaels, but here we are nearly two decades later and he's still wrestling! The man is tough.
