20 WWE Ruthless Aggression Era Stars You Totally Don't Remember
2. Colin Delaney
As unlikely a WWE superstar as anyone on this list, Colin Delaney sure didn't look like the stereotypical WWE signing. Having shone on the independent scene for years prior to agreeing a deal, Delaney was immediately posted to the ECW brand and used as a jobber in late-2007. It wasn't exactly a headline role for the man, but at least he was getting booked. Later, a storyline during which he became the protege of ECW legend Tommy Dreamer helped him stay in the spotlight. Confusingly, this angle wasn't allowed time to develop, and Delaney turned heel on his mentor at the Great American Bash 2008 Pay-Per-View. Costing Dreamer his match against Mark Henry, the diminutive grappler had little else to offer after the story wrapped up. Just before SummerSlam, he was cut from the roster and released from contract. To this day, it remains startling that World Wrestling Entertainment even bothered with Colin Delaney. Not only was his ring name uninspiring, but there was next to no chance that he was going to succeed in such an image-obsessed company. A 6 month run was better than nothing, but ultimately pointless.
