20 WWE Ruthless Aggression Era Tag Teams You've Already Forgotten
3. Cade & Murdoch
WWE has always loved its hick tag teams, and they've come in a huge variety over the years. We've seen traditional cowboys, hog farmers, miscellaneous hill folk and swamp hermits. Lance Cade and Trevor Murdoch were like a rare, limited-time-only promotional flavor: background bar patrons from HBO's True Blood.
I'm actually a pretty big Cade & Murdoch fan. They were a well-balanced team in terms of skill-set and attitude, and their complementary style brought them three separate tag team championships. Despite their chemistry, WWE was doing constantly that thing with them where a tag team loses two or three matches and they'd immediately start teasing dissension.
Cade sadly died of heart failure at 29, while Murdoch went on to have an honestly impressive independent run that included challenging for the GHC championship in Pro Wrestling Noah. According to a WWE.com feature, he's currently mostly retired from the ring and installing fiber-optic lines for industrial applications. Yes, he's literally a cable guy.
Today They'd Be: HUGE in NXT.
