When Kane debuted way back in 1997, 90% of his body, including his face, was kept undercover. The only areas of The Big Red Machine that were exposed were his left arm and his long, brown hair.

The story behind Kane is that he was burned during a fire at his family's funeral home when he was young, and suffered horrific scars that required him to wear a mask. There were moments during Kane's early career in which WWE teased the removal of his mask, even going so far as to pull it off completely at SummerSlam 2000 with Kane covering his face, running backstage. At this point, Kane still had his long, dark hair.

No true reveal of Kane's face came until June of 2003 and with it, came the removal of Kane's long hair.

On June 23, 2003, Kane unmasked after losing a Mask vs. World Title match against Triple H on Raw, and when the mask was removed, so was more than half of Kane's hair.

In a look that lasted only one week, Kane had the front half of his head shaved with the back part still half-covered in curly hair. The following Monday night, Kane would debut a completely bald head, finally severing the ties to his long, wavy hair.
