20 WWE Women's Wrestlers You Totally Don't Remember

Juanita Wright was a huge childhood wrestling fan, and looked to get involved in the business in whatever way she could from a very young age. She started-out by driving wrestlers to and from the arena in her native St. Louis, before becoming the first woman in Missouri to ever gain a wrestling referee's license.

After undergoing some rudimentary wrestling training, Wright joined WWE as "Sapphire" in 1989. Initially presented as Dusty Rhodes' biggest fan, she eventually started managing the American Dream, going so far as to wear the black and yellow polka dot outfits that Dusty's WWE run had become synonymous with.

Though never much of a wrestler, Sapphire was able to pin Sensation Sherri at WrestleMania VI, and their feud continued throughout 1990. Ted DiBiase eventually purchased her managerial contract, and that was the beginning of the end. Sapphire appeared in a few vignettes with DiBiase afterwards, but her WWE career ended a few weeks later.

Her departure was a mystery at the time, but Sherri has since revealed that Sapphire's admiration for Rhodes was so strong that she literally broke down crying when they were split. Sapphire lost all interest in working for WWE after this, and soon left the business entirely.
