Sometimes, brevity is everything.

WWE made the right call by ditching the planned 'Bar Fight' between Sheamus and Jeff Hardy from Sunday's Extreme Rules card. The same goes for the scheduled United States Title match between Apollo Crews and MVP; one can take place on SmackDown, and the other can eat up some more TV time on Raw.

Fans tuning in to WWE's latest pay-per-view were promised several things. Firstly, either Seth Rollins or Rey Mysterio would lose an eye - it was the "only way to win", they said. Second, Dolph Ziggler would reveal his fool proof plan to take the WWE Title away from Drew McIntyre. Thirdly, the 'Wyatt Swamp Fight' was going to be bloody weird.

Only two of those things came true. The biggest tease (the eye thing) was an obvious cop out, and will only be remembered as yet another occasion when pro wrestling's biggest company decided they didn't need to follow through on their own, ironclad stipulation.

It was a crazy night overall, and not just because of booking inconsistencies or cinematic strangeness. That helped though...
