21. Pope Compares Robbie E To "Avatar" & "Leif Cassidy"
During the Hardy-Robbie E match, Pope made yet another obscure wrestling reference, this time saying of the fast-improving Robbie, "I look at Robbie E and, all of the goofiness aside in the past, where he used to remind me of an Avatar or a Leif Cassidy, here today he's changed his attitude, his mindset and he's like a Tommy Dreamer." Whether the namedrops are on-point or not, long-time wrestling fans will no doubt be aware that Pope is actually referring to two of the flop gimmicks TNA road agent Al Snow adopted during his tenure in the WWE, Avatar being a masked wrestler, while Leif Cassidy saw him teamed with Marty Jannetty as part of the dud attempt to revive The Rockers. Is Al in on the joke, or is this some very genuine ribbing from Pope? Who knows?
