'The Nature Boy' bid farewell to WWE during the first month of Monday Night Raw's existence, but made good on nearly a decade away from the company with a spirited 2001 return.

As the show's general manager, Triple H lackey-turned-Evolution cornerstone and - remarkably - fighting Intercontinental Champion, Ric Flair donated more magnificent minutes to Monday Night Raw than half the industry half his age.

Monday Night Raw was also the location of one of the loveliest in-ring tributes WWE ever paid. Their surprise address to 'Slick Ric' a night removed from his absorbing retirement clash with Shawn Michaels was up there as one of the most emotional scenes ever organically orchestrated. Only Flair himself tarnished it with a TNA in-ring return a couple of years later.
