And there you have it; the ThunderDome era has ridden off into the LED sunset.

Thank you for the memories, you big, soulless technological feat. Who can forget that time The King of Kings subbed in for Drew McIntyre and fought Randy Orton in his jeans? Or the time Jeff Hardy nearly killed himself in a Symphony of Destruction clash? What a world.

In a few days time, though, cheers.wav will be replaced by the real thing for the likes of Raw and SmackDown for the first time in well over a year. But it still remains to be seen whether the welcoming back of an in-the-flesh Universe will pump new life into a flailing product or expose just how much sh*t has royally hit the fan in recent times. Either way, expect fireworks, folks.

If this will be the last time we see WWE's monstrous digital experience invade our screens, however, at least the vessels attempting to make it feel like an enticing arena gave it a fitting send-off. Cesaro shed some blood, but couldn't cash-in on a place in the Money in the Bank ladder match. Ricochet and John Morrison became the eye-catching exception that proves the rule when it comes to excessive rematches. And Edge joined forces with an old masked mate to set up a mouth-watering multi-man spectacle in just a few days times.

It's been a rough 16-months for just about everyone on planet Earth. But for those who refused to give up on their weekly dose of often painful WWE programming throughout this testing time, your patience and resilience finally looks set to be rewarded... we hope.

All will become clear in a matter of days. But before then, there were nWo tributes and ESPY celebrations to be had on Instagram.
