Post-1997 tensions cooled for real between Bret Hart and Vince McMahon after the Chairman made a personal call to him after his stroke in 2002, but the pair met up once before that in a secretive and secluded meeting during stress of a different kind between the families Hart and McMahon.

Emotions were still raw in 2000 following Owen Hart's tragic death, but 'The Excellence of Execution' and his former father figure. As Hart put it whilst speaking to the New York Post in November that year; "His rep was begging me to meet with Vince and I already knew I couldn’t talk about the impending lawsuit. It was best to say nothing...Finally, I said ‘OK, meet me in a park near my house.

The pair made a loose agreement about Bret gaining access to photos and footage from his career, but nothing concrete came beyond that until Hart's surprising return to the fold for a DVD project in 2005.
