4. David Arquette Becomes WCW Champion
Whereas Vince Russo as WCW Champion was arguably the final nail in the coffin of WCW, David Arquette is likely the most ridiculous World Champion in all professional wrestling history.
An actor best known for the Scream movie franchise, Arquette became WCW Champion 5 months to the day before Russo's run with the belt began. He'd get the title after pinning Eric Bischoff in a match that saw Arquette/DDP vs Bischoff/Jeff Jarrett where the man who got the pinfall became World Champion.
The fact that David Arquette and Eric Bischoff were both in a match for the WCW Title is disrespectful enough, but to have Arquette get the win shows how bad the WCW product had gotten by that point.
David Arquette would get an 8-day run as the WCW Champion before he lost the belt to Jeff Jarrett in a Triple Cage match that also featured DDP.
Non-wrestlers can be well utilised in the wrestling business, but making a scrawny actor like David Arquette the World Champion is the type of move that makes you realise why WCW went out of business.
