21. Nikita Koloff Smashes Up The US Title

After some time in the AWA, Nikita Koloff returned to WCW as a monster heel in early 1991. The focus of his destruction? That would be the United States Champion, Lex Luger.

Having taken out Luger and left him laying unconscious, the vicious Koloff turned his attention to the US Title itself. Adamant that he was still the real and true US Champion, Koloff proceeded to smash Luger's US Title against a ringpost.

As a result of Nikita's attack, the championship belt was destroyed and Luger would even compete without a physical belt for a little while. Lex would come out victorious in this feud, and he'd end up debuting a new version of the United States Title, whilst Koloff would go on to tangle with Sting.

This new US Title would go on to be used right the way through the rest of WCW's time in business, even appearing in the WWF during the "Invasion" angle before being unified with the Intercontinental Championship.
