28 WTF Moments From WWE Royal Rumble 2017
2. Roman Reigns
Roman Reigns entering at number 30 is a huge WTF Moment. All the rumours surrounding the Rumble, Samoa Joe, Finn Balor, and they went with a man that not only had appeared earlier in the night to a chorus of boos, didn't really, in kayfabe terms, make a lot of sense in being there.
It would have made sense, however, if the loser of the WWE Championship match, AJ Styles, had been given a spot in the Rumble too. It was wholly unfair on SmackDown Live that RAW got a place that they seemingly weren't offered. The stage and now this; why were RAW getting all the perks on the night?
I don't buy into the story some people are spouting online that Roman was in the Rumble no matter what the result of his match with Kevin Owens was. We saw the Superstars picking the numbers out of the tumbler, we know they were drawn on the night. The WTF Moment here is how Roman presumably walked up to an authority figure after his Universal title match and demanded a spot before being granted it. Who sanctioned this? And whose spot was taken? There had to be somebody pencilled in just incase Roman won the big jam championship.
Reigns eliminating Undertaker is another huge WTF Moment. Nobody behind the scenes in WWE could have thought this would have been well received, and if they did, they need firing because they simply don't get what fans are looking for these days. Hopefully, throwing Reigns in at number 30 and having him eliminate Taker are deliberate ploys on the way to what would be a sweet Reigns heel turn. An endless string of things that anger certain sections of the fanbase would work wonders for any potential turn. But then again, this is Roman Reigns so that just won't happen.
None of this made sense. It's time for WWE to get their heads out of their own arses. The Reigns experiment hasn't worked. Not matter how hard you try it simply never will, it's gone too far now. It's time to admit this and move on to making another star.
This isn't the smark in me talking, this is the fan looking for good wrestling with compelling stories. Roman Reigns ruined the Rumble. I won't remember the Rumble ruined by Roman, will you?
