During the buildup to their WrestleMania match (and in the video package shown before the match), Miz and Maryse made the case that what they have in their relationship is real and done for themselves, which John Cena and Nikki Bella’s relationship is reality TV and done for ratings.

It was a perfect thing for a heel to do to rail against the heroes. But then Cena went and made a truth-teller out of Miz. After defeating the Mizanins, Cena grabbed a mic and proceeded to tell a rambling story to Nikki, leading up to him asking her to marry him. In the middle of the ring. At WrestleMania. With cameras rolling.

You can bet that this moment will be a central part of an upcoming season of Total Bellas, thus “proving” Miz’s point that Cena and Bella’s relationship is more rooted in reality TV than reality.

None of this is meant to be a knock on Cena proposing or to sully the moment. If you like that sort of thing, bully for you. But it’s hard to think Miz is wrong in this case.
