3 Ups & 3 Downs From AEW Rampage (Mar 11)

2. A Rapid Fire Opening Match

Marq Quen Darby Allin
AEW

The opener, overkill ending aside, was all-action and all-energy.

Darby Allin and Marq Quen didn't hang about, did they? Speaking of which, AEW went straight into the action without entrances for the second week in a row. You've gotta love that, because it speaks to the show's urgency. Straight the wrestling with no messing around.

This was a solid match with the right winner. Only one spot weakened things slightly, as explained earlier, but it wasn't enough to stop this from being worth your time. Allin also looked like he was having a blast in there with someone who flies around like Quen. Darbs didn't have to play the underdog in this one.

That's his nature, so he still sort of does it, but it wasn't the only narrative of the bout. If only they'd held back a little right at the end. If only, if only. That's not really how pro wrestling works in 2022 though, is it? Wrestlers are desperate to impress.
