3 Ups & 3 Downs From WWE NXT UK (1 April)

2. Big Beefy Boys Not Slappin' Meat

The sit-down exchange between WALTER and Rampage Brown didn’t work. For starters, it was backstage instead of in-ring, which didn’t help proceedings, and secondly, they didn’t actually get physical at a time when they really should have.

Considering their colossal NXT UK Championship match is next week, there simply needed to be more to this as a go-home segment. Having them sit around a table, with assistant general manager Sid Scala asking the most basic of basic questions, just isn’t what you expect when you think WALTER vs. Rampage.

Scala asked WALTER if he thinks he’s the greatest NXT UK Champion in history, and then asked Rampage how he’s preparing for such a match. If you’re going to do this sort of angle, at least get some interesting questions thrown in. Otherwise, it feels more like a question-and-answer session at a meet and greet. Next think you know, Scala will be asking who Rampage’s favourites were growing up.

To reiterate the point, their much-anticipated title match is next week. They needed to do something a bit spicier than some random backstage skit. The match will surely be a cracker, but sometimes, it’s not always about the action itself.
