3 Ups & 4 Downs From AEW Dark (Mar 10)

3. A Misplaced Trial Run

Jimmy Havoc Severino Corrente
AEW

Using Dark to trial new wrestlers is a fine idea but not in spots like this. Jimmy Havoc is a featured Dark wrestler with an ongoing storyline that'll soon be paid off and should have flattened someone here, but he didn't. Instead, the duo spent too long farting around, going hold-to-hold, and generally presenting the wrong layout when Jimmy needed to run through the opposition.

The announcers went all in on putting Havoc's pure wrestling skills over, highlighting that he isn't just a hardcore guy. This makes sense, as the story with the Luther rivalry is that he's being sucked back into that world, but do we need to see him trading holds with Severino Corrente?

While the work itself was fine, some wrestling matches don't need to be all that competitive. This was one of them.
