3 Ups & 4 Downs From AEW Rampage (Sept 8)

Some retro TNA delivers; AEW makes a match for Grand Slam; All Elite refs suck.

No prizes for guessing who's winning AEW's latest Eliminator tourney for a crack at MJF's World Title. Well, Roderick Strong could be a surprise package, but this has Samoa Joe written all over it. After all, Tony Khan already set the table for that with events at All Out and on Dynamite.

At least some of the tournament matches are still a giggle.

This week's Rampage hosted a solid opening quarter final and another fun ride that had a splash of retro TNA to it. That was probably unexpected going in, but it did work and showcased a more motivated Jeff Hardy than fans have been treated to in a long, long time.

All Elite also set up another match for the Grand Slam special, but how about the bad stuff from Friday? Most of that came via inept refereeing that really needs to be sorted out. It's getting to the stage where AEW refs actively take away from the product, and this cannot be allowed to happen for much longer.

Here's all the good stuff and the bad from AEW's latest hour of TV!
