3 Ups & 4 Downs From Last Night's WWE SmackDown (Mar 28)

2. Mr. Irrelevant

What on Earth happened to Luke Harper? A month ago, it looked like he was being set-up as SmackDown's next big babyface. As the "third man" in the Bray Wyatt/Randy Orton saga, Harper was over with the crowd and seemed as though he was finally building momentum as a singles act. Then he lost an excellent match to Orton at Elimination Chamber, and his appearances started dwindling.

Harper hasn't been seen for weeks, but he resurfaced last night. He cut a brief promo on Wyatt before facing him in the main event, but was ultimately served-up as nothing more than cannon fodder. Instead of capitalising on Harper's upswing after his removal from the Wyatt Family, WWE have once again relegated him to also-ran status, and his main event experiment is likely over.

It's hard to gauge Harper's upside as a singles wrestler, particularly given his lack of microphone time. Still, he's one of the best big men around, and he rarely disappoints between the ropes, whether he wins or loses. Nobody's star has fallen more than Luke's recently, however, and if WWE are serious about ever building him up, he can't be missing weeks of television at a time, only to return as a jobber to the stars.
