3 Ups & 4 Downs From Last Night's WWE SmackDown (Oct 3)

2. Super Shane Strikes Again

As far as wrestler vs. authority figure feuds go, Kevin Owens vs. Shane McMahon has been solid. KO has been on fire every week, and while the Commissioner often feels intrusive, he has held up his end of the bargain by taking his fair share of lashings along the way.

Last night followed the usual format. Shane hit the ring, talked smack on Owens, then called him out. He decided to add a 'falls count anywhere' stipulation to their upcoming Hell in a Cell match (because... reasons?), which drew KO out. The former Universal Champion refused to engage, but eventually laid Shane out after a brawl in the concessions area, a powerbomb through a table, and another in the ring.

This was a predictable way to end the show, and Shane's fightback was particularly obnoxious. He survived the table powerbomb to stagger back down to the ring like Superman, then pepper KO with some of his trademark terrible punches, showing that no matter what, the McMahons will always be WWE's most protected performers. Such moments are insufferable, and adding the nonsensical new stipulation to the mix makes this one of the worst things on SmackDown.
