3 Ups & 4 Downs From Last Night's WWE SmackDown (Sept 19)

Ups…

3. The Hype Bros’ Woes Continue

This week’s tag division offering saw The New Day face off against The Hype Bros, and while not up to par with their recent bouts versus The Usos, it was a fine little contest. Both teams looked solid enough, with Kofi Kingston and Big E given ample time to shine against their lowly opponents, who they eventually put away in just over six minutes.

A solid bout that keeps The New Day’s momentum going, and also amplifies the Hype Bros’ frustrations. The duo showed clear tension last week, and their latest loss was followed up by a brief backstage segment. They’re tired of losing, apparently, and vowed to “do something drastic” in order to make a chance.

A supplemental ‘Down’ here for the lack of follow-up on the Mojo/Ryder tension from last week, but it’s perfectly feasibly that this is still simmering in the background. Regardless, the match was decent enough, and it’s good that WWE are doing something with a team outwith the SmackDown Tag Title program for once. Here’s hoping it reaches a satisfying conclusion.
