3 Ups & 4 Downs From WWE SmackDown (17 July - Results & Review)
1. Charlotte Flair Looks Idiotic
It always sucks when pro wrestling makes babyfaces look like absolute idiots.
WWE's announcers could go with the story that Charlotte Flair was blinded by rage and thus didn’t realise she’d actually helped Jade Cargill qualify for SummerSlam, but someone like Charlotte should be smarter than that. No, it’s no great loss that Jade vs. Nia Jax lasted less than a minute, but this booking really didn’t make Flair look smart at all. Even the live crowd seemed a bit confused by it all.
Flair rushed in to interrupt the match, take out Michin and B-FAB, then try to break Cargill's arm as revenge for Alexa Bliss last week; Bliss did her double jointed 'broken arm' sell there, so she'll probably be on the shelf for a little while whilst Charlotte battles for her honour. That's all cool, but effectively handing her main rival a spot at SummerSlam on a plate? Nah, that made Flair look like she just isn't paying attention to the way things work.
If anything, it would've made way more sense had she booted Jax in the chops to cost Jade. As it is, Adam Pearce (who's standing in for Nick Aldis following Gunther's attack) made Nia vs. Charlotte next week in another qualifier. That was an apology to Jax for the way things went down here.
Again, Flair could've avoided all of that by taking out Nia then flashing an evil grin at Jade. She helped her enemy advance, then didn't even get the revenge she was looking for. Oops. This was an off night for 'The Queen', at least in terms of logic.
