3 Ups & 4 Downs From WWE SmackDown (Aug 4)

1. Everything Feels Meh

Austin Theory has been in a proper rut since WrestleMania. WWE outright failed to capitalise on the buzz surrounding him following that win over John Cena, and they didn't even follow up on his alliance with Pretty Deadly either. Plus, to top it all off, Theory's impending battle vs. Santos Escobar feels dull.

Speaking of which, what the f*ck has happened to Cameron Grimes?! He worked a mini-feud with Baron Corbin when he first landed on SmackDown, but that was scrapped in favour of moving Corbs full time to NXT. Since then, Cam has been feeding on creative scraps.

This can't be what WWE had in mind for him when they called Grimes up to the main roster. Short, unsatisfying losses like the one he experienced here vs. Austin won't cut it, and now what? Where does he even go from here?

One NXT call up tanking, and Theory vs. Escobar struggling before the match even happens. Hmm, not good.
