3 Ups & 5 Downs From Last Night's WWE SmackDown (Sep 26)

4. At Least He Wasn't Racist This Week

A supplemental 'Up' to the writing team for not turning Jinder Mahal into a massive racist last night, but the WWE Champion's in-ring promo was as repetitive as ever.

We're at a stage where 'The Modern Day Maharaja' literally does the same thing every week. For the third consecutive SmackDown, he mocked Shinsuke Nakamura by flicking through a series of his goofier facial expressions on the big screen, much to the Singh Brother's amusement. As always, it completely killed the crowd, though 'The King Of Strong Style' actually showed some backbone by responding this week.

One of Mahal's "stills" turned out to be Nakamura himself, who decided he'd finally had enough of his foe's mockery. He hit the ring, making quick work of the Singhs, before taking out 'The Maharaja' himself, ending the segment standing tall.

Hopefully this means we've seen the last of these segments, because they're cannibalising SmackDown at the moment. They destroy the crowd's enthusiasm every single time, and while it was good to see Nakamura stand up for himself at long last, the feud is doing nothing to dispel the miasma surrounding the blue brand's main event scene.
