3 Ups & 5 Downs From WWE Hall Of Fame 2024 (Results & Review)

2. Heart-Wrenching And Heartwarming

What else can you say about the induction of the U.S. Express, Barry Windham and Mike Rotunda?

The duo’s career in WWF was relatively brief – lasting about a year – but they happened to be there at a most opportune time, just as the Rock ‘n Wrestling Era hit. They came into WrestleMania I as the tag champions, losing the titles to Iron Sheik and Nikolai Volkoff. They would regain the titles shortly after, but they would lose them again a few months later and be out of the company before WrestleMania II rolled around.

Their induction likely was tied to the untimely passing of Windham Rotunda, better known as Bray Wyatt, who was Rotunda’s son and Windham’s nephew. Bray’s brother (Bo Dallas) and sister paid tribute to Wyatt before introducing their dad and uncle, and Mike Rotunda would close his remarks by wishing his son could be there and asking fans to wave their cell phone flashlights.

Thankfully, fans were onto the gesture and also sang Wyatt’s “He’s got the whole world in his hands” rendition to punctuate the moment.

It was a sweet moment that clearly meant a lot to a family so deeply tied to wrestling to have the brothers-in-law inducted together, and only a heartless bastard would boo that.

He fortunately became a fan in time for WrestleMania III and came back as a fan after a long high school hiatus before WM XIV. Monday nights in the Carlson household are reserved for viewing Raw -- for better or worse.
