3 Ups & 5 Downs From WWE SmackDown (April 9)

2. Too Little, Too Late (Again)

Rumours abound that Sasha Banks vs. Bianca Belair will headline the first night at WrestleMania 37. If true, then good for them, but it'd be an outright lie to suggest that the past three months has built towards that honour. In fact, the build for their match has been totally lame.

This week, Belair cut a good promo that spoke of the difference between being nervous and being scared. Then, later, Sasha chimed in to cut through the crap with arrogant boasts that clearly depict her as the egotistical heel. Sorry, but where was this immediately after Bianca won the Royal Rumble?

This sort of characterisation needed to happen for months, not days.

It's too little, too late. Every 'Mania headliner deserves great build before it - Rock vs. Austin had it, Hogan vs. André too, and even the Triple Threat between Becky Lynch, Ronda Rousey and Charlotte Flair two years ago felt powerful. Belair and Banks have been let down badly here.
