3 Ups & 5 Downs From WWE SmackDown (May 27)

Ups...

3. A Passable Main Event

Still, at least the bell-to-bell business in that headline six-man was solid.

WWE couldn't put that combination of talent inside the ring for a match and have it tank - not even on a show as skippable and uninspired as this. Drew McIntyre came across as a killer again, and it also looks like they've just put a bow on the never-ending feud between New Day and the erm...Brawling Brutes.

Perhaps Drew dancing after looking so tough and strong could be considered annoying, but that's a minor complaint and not worthy of a full 'Down' by any means. It certainly didn't trample all over the fact that McIntyre was the top star on this week's SmackDown.

That's promising for him heading into the second half of 2022. SmackDown really needs credible babyfaces, and Drew fits the bill there. He's believably badass when mowing down heels with that Claymore Kick, and he has those serious facial expressions down to a fine art.

This was fine.
