3 Ups & 6 Downs From WWE NXT UK (6 May)
3. Trent Wins Lol
Saxon Huxley could be a mint character in NXT UK if he was only utilised as something other than a jobber. He lost to Trent Seven in a match he legitimately should have won.
Huxley looked good against ‘The Don’, grounding him off a scoop slam on the ringside mats and subsequent Cactus Elbow, but this is where it all went wrong. Trent got hold of the advantage, spiking Saxon with a DDT. Even a Sam Gradwell distraction on the video walls wasn’t enough to throw Seven off; he failed in capitalising, taking a snap dragon suplex and Seven Stars lariat to seal his fate.
A minor Up for this rivalry between Seven and Gradwell actually being a thing rather than a one-off confrontation as it’s being built upon some genuine remarks. When you’re having a guy get distracted by his rival and still winning the match with his finisher – not a rollup – you’ve got a bit of a problem.
Huxley did his job in making the Moustache Mountain man look good, but he had to go the next step here. The Bruiser Brody lookalike has bags of potential. Instead, NXT UK’s creative team view him as the Barry Horowitz of his day. Dreadful.
