3 Ups & 6 Downs From WWE Raw (Nov 21)

4. RIP Johnny Wrestling

It’s probably safe to officially call Johnny Gargano’s return to WWE a complete dud.

Barring some tremendous reversal of fortune, Gargano’s return has consisted of a couple decent matches and then playing second banana to Dexter Lumis in his rivalry with the Miz. As a result, he’s been stuck playing goofy and plucky underdog who delivers the exposition since Lumis is a mute.

In the past two months, Gargano has lost to Otis, Baron Corbin, Miz, and now Omos on Monday. Johnny Wrestling was slated to get a rematch with Miz, but because we have to try to find a way to make people boo Miz more (as if him being on our TVs wasn’t enough), he ducked out claiming an injury while making a TikTok.

This gave us an awful match between Gargano and Omos that saw Johnny look like one of those WCW cruiserweights who had no shot against an nWo member but got a brief hope spot before being squashed. He certainly didn’t look like an NXT triple crown winner.

But hey, Miz versus Dexter Lumis should certainly… be a match that happens.
