3 Ups & 7 Downs From WWE SmackDown (Dec 20)
2. The Choice Of A New New Generation
Next week's main event on the final SmackDown of 2019 is a Triple Threat #1 Contenders match pitting 'King' Corbin, Daniel Bryan and The Miz against each other to see who's next to challenge Bray Wyatt. This one has Royal Rumble implications, and that should thrill anyone who's dying to see WWE move on to WrestleMania season already.
WWE would prefer fans to believe that all three have a chance here. The truth is, there's only one choice, and it's Bryan. Think about it, Corbin vs. Wyatt doesn't make sense right now (and it's the least tasty of the three title matches). Similarly, fans would sh*t all over The Miz if he dared to win out over their precious Daniel.
Bryan is the fan's pick to work Wyatt again for the Universal Title at the Rumble. The kicker is that WWE are setting themselves up to fail here. There's a chance Daniel will be booked to win the 30-man match, so that'd leave Miz p*ssing into the wind against fan apathy if he gets the victory.
'How To Book Yourself Into A Corner' could be a WWE masterclass.
