3 Ups And 4 Downs From Last Night's WWE SmackDown (Oct 4)
Downs...
4. Insult To Injury
At Backlash, Bray Wyatt was supposed to take on Randy Orton, but Orton was forced to miss the match due to an injury (WWE knew beforehand, but chose not to inform the paying audience). Wyatt ended up taking on Kane in a no holds barred match, and Kane - a near-50-year-old veteran who only wrestles a part-time schedule - beat Wyatt, with help from Orton.
Smackdown this week opened up with a rematch between Wyatt and Kane, and it looked like Wyatt was going to get his win back heading into No Mercy. Unfortunately, the bout was just another opportunity for more nonsense. During the match, Orton appeared on the Titantron (upside down), distracting Wyatt and promising to turn him into prey. Wyatt turned around into a Chokeslam attempt, but escaped and fell out of the ring. After that, he simply decided to get counted out.
This was a horrible finish that further marred the worst feud in the company, and it was made even worse by the fact that it looked like Wyatt was about to save a little face. Instead, Kane was the one who was protected.
