3 Ups And 4 Downs From WWE Starrcade 2018

Ups...

3. Rusev To The Rescue

It’s great to see Rusev getting to play a babyface long after fans had demanded it, chanting for Rusev Day for a year now.

While Rusev had ostensibly turned face a while ago, he did something at Starrcade that really drives the point home: he saved ultimate underdog Rey Mysterio from a 2-on-1 beatdown. Mysterio was getting attacked by Shinsuke Nakamura and The Miz when the Bulgarian Brute stormed down to the ring and saved Rey, setting up a tag match that Rusev won by pinning Miz.

With the mostly accent-less Lana acting as his cheerleader, perhaps Rusev is finally poised to get a decent, proper push. Maybe this win could help transition him to a program with Nakamura over the US title, which Rusev held once upon a time.

Either way, it was good seeing Rusev charging down to help out Mysterio.
