Just in case you were being lulled into a false sense of security in-between all the repeated lines about how Sheamus might turn on his best friend Drew McIntyre, WWE’s Sledgehammer of Plot reared its ugly head Monday night.

WWE doesn’t do subtle well, so after an initially smart move to wink and nod at fans that the Celtic Warrior eventually would turn on McIntyre, they’ve beaten that point home, to death, and now six feet underground. Monday, we saw it go a step further, with Sheamus immediately turning on another tag partner in a six-man tag match, Brogue Kicking Keith Lee as the trio celebrated a win.

That left McIntyre to plead with Sheamus about how he vouched for him with Lee. So now McIntyre has firsthand proof that Sheamus can’t be trusted, so when the Irish warrior does turn on him, the champ will just look like that much more of a fool. Brilliant.

Why can’t WWE do anything subtle and smart?
