"Surfer" Gimmick Making Comeback For Sting's AEW Retirement?!

One of AEW's announce team just dropped a hint that this has been discussed.

Tony Schiavone has pitched that Sting return to his roots and become a 'Surfer' again during his AEW retirement match at next year's Revolution pay-per-view.

The announcer told fans on his 'What Happened When?' podcast that there's a small chance the Stinger could go retro for the bout, dye his hair blonde, spike it up and go back to a time before his iconic 'Crow' look even existed.

Schiavone says Sting would take some convincing if he was going to do something like that, but Tony refuses to rule out the possibility. He thinks it'd make sense and bring the legend's in-ring career full circle. Of course, that'd necessitate a haircut for the Stinger, and it'd be a dramatic change of pace for him at this stage in proceedings.

Could 2024 actually see the return of 'Surfer' Sting?! Some fans are already laughing off the notion on social media, but Schiavone is deadly serious about it. He said it'd "be great", and that everyone young and old would get a kick out of seeing the veteran close his in-ring career that way.
