The pesky foreign heel is arguably the more repeated character in the history of North American pro wrestling.

With a plethora of names to choose from, it can be argued that Ludvig Borga is the 1990s superstar who Rusev is most similar to. Both were brought into Vince McMahon’s company with a huge splash, billed as monster heels and running through a whole host of bayfaces as they put together quite the impressive undefeated streaks.

Despite never being pinned or submitted in a singles match, Ludvig Borga would ultimately see his WWF run brought to an end thanks to injury and attitude. On the other hand, Rusev would hit the brick wall known as Super Cena.

Sadly for Borga, he’d pretty much drop off the radar after leaving the WWF, dabbling with MMA and then politics before taking his own life.

Fans of Rusev can only hope that the Bulgarian Brute still manages to keep a strong position on the roster despite his multiple losses to Cena, his splitting from Lana, and his current ill-timed injury.
