Chris Benoit enjoyed great success in his early years at WrestleMania, winning the Intercontinental Championship at his first Mania (2000) and capturing the World Heavyweight Championship in the main event of 20. He also defended his United States Championship at WrestleMania 23.

Even in defeat, Benoit had a spectacular match with Kurt Angle at WrestleMania 19, and he also participated in the first Money in the Bank ladder match at 21 in 2005.
