35 Top WrestleMania Performers In WWE History
5. Bret “Hitman” Hart (8-6)
Before Edge,
Bret Hart was the prototype tag team wrestler who achieved great success as a
duo before branching out on his own and becoming a megastar. The Hitman enjoyed
several victories as part of the Hart Foundation at WrestleManias III, V and VI
before losing their final tag team titles at Mania VII.
After that, Hart began a steady rise to the top of the card, winning the Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania VIII and then becoming world champion. Hart would lose that title in the infamous WrestleMania IX main event, but he would redeem himself a year later by pulling double duty and emerging from Mania X as the champion once again. Hart lost the title in an Iron Man match against Shawn Michaels at 12 and would win his last (competitive) Mania match by making Steve Austin pass out during an “I Quit” match at WrestleMania 13.
Hart’s impressive run would get one last resurgence in 2010 when he faced Vince McMahon at WrestleMania 26, a 13-year gap between Mania appearances.
