Despite the “Mr. WrestleMania” moniker, Shawn Michaels has lost quite a few major matches at the Showcase of the Immortals. And although some wrestlers have better records or have main-evented more Manias (HBK has closed out five of them), Michaels is the best in-ring performer at WrestleMania.

Consider that all five of Michaels’ main events could be considered must-see bouts: Iron Man world title match at 12, WWE Championship against Steve Austin at 14, triple threat world title at 20, WWE Championship against John Cena at 23 and Career versus Streak against Undertaker at 26.

Now throw in other classic Mania matches such as the Intercontinental Championship ladder match at WrestleMania X, against Chris Jericho at 19 and of course the first Undertaker match at 25. Not convinced yet? Don’t forget HBK losing to Kurt Angle at WrestleMania 21 and retiring Ric Flair (from WWE, at least) at 24.

All of this doesn’t even count his early matches as part of the Rockers or during the beginning of his singles career. For all these reasons, Shawn Michaels is in a category all of his own: The Greatest In-Ring Performer in WrestleMania History.
