35 Years Of WWE WrestleMania Mistakes

11. WrestleMania 25 - Triple H Vs. Randy Orton In The Main Event

At Royal Rumble '98, Shawn Michaels and The Undertaker squared off in a casket match during which 'the Heartbreak Kid' infamously suffered a back injury, effectively ending his days in the squared-circle.

In 2009, the pair met again in singles action for the first time in eleven years. Though they had wrestled one another several times, this occasion had a whole new significance. HBK had made a miraculous comeback and was experiencing the best run of his already glittering career, whilst 'the Phenom' had carved out one of wrestling's greatest legacies in the form of his WrestleMania Streak. It was the match everybody paid to see: unequivocally the main event.

Except it wasn't, as once more Triple H's mammoth ego resulted in his title bout going on last. However, even Hunter soon realised the error of his ways. Within a few minutes of Shawn and 'Taker's Herculean clash commencing, Triple H exclaimed to his opponent Randy Orton, "We're f***ed." It was clear the match couldn't be topped, and as with WrestleMania X8, the 'Cerebral Assassin' played to a dead crowd.

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
