Following a lengthy battle with an undisclosed illness, Takashi Okamura passed away on 25 April. He was 60 years of age.

Born in Kobe, Japan, and trained by the legendary Kōji Kitao, Okamura, nicknamed 'The Devilman', enjoyed a heralded career in his homeland, but his defining legacy came during his Dragon Gate Presidency. In office from the group's inception in 2004 until his exit in 2018, Takashi Okamura oversaw all operational decisions in the upstart Japanese company, which also housed his final match in 2013, a ten-man tag team match that brought him out of retirement.
