Its no secret that this wasnt the original plan for Kofi, Big E and Xavier. As much as the WWE would like us to forget, most of us still remember the few weeks when tho trio first formed. We remember when Xavier came out in a stylish suit and told Kofi and Big E No More Waiting! Now We Take! We all remember their more aggressive and pensive demeanours. They captured our attention in a few short weeks, and while its impossible to know how things would have turned out if they had stuck with that story, chances are wed all be in a far more interesting place with this trio. Instead, we have The New Day in their current form. Clapping, dancing, preaching black stereotypes (but never say theyre black, it has to remain ambiguous). The only thing different about any of these men from what they were as singles competitors, is that they look absolutely ridiculous. Theyre all still afterthoughts and more importantly theyre all still passive as all hell. Heres a quick newsflash: Nobody likes passive characters! Everybody wants their favourite characters to be aggressive. They want their characters to seek out adventure and conflict. They want their favourite characters to be active. Thats why it was great to see these three men look as though they were adopting a mean streak last summer. Big E debuted as a bodyguard that took orders from AJ Lee, Kofi is a guy most famous for not getting eliminated in Battle Royals, as opposed to being able to eliminate others, and Xaviers main roster debut was literally the most unassertive debut ever recorded. These guys all are in desperate need of some aggression in their characters. Theyve been walked on for too long and need to be more assertive, more hostile and more dynamic.
