Against: A Great Opening Match
The match between Daniel Bryan and Bray Wyatt would have to be the best opening match of a PPV for the last 13 months. Nothing quite compared to the brilliant back and forth match that the two of them managed to put together in order to give the show some momentum (which, admittedly the rest of the show squandered). Bryan is operating at a level at the moment that is simply without peer and he proved it once again in this match with some remarkable spots- including a tornado DDT from the apron to the floor that was just beautiful. It would be erroneous though to think that this was all Bryan's doing. Bray Wyatt has often been criticised for being a little sloppy in the ring, mostly due to his very patchy performance with Kane at Summerslam. Here, though, Wyatt showed a massive growth in his move-set that seemed to suit his character's insane nature just perfectly. His reactions to the audience were brilliant as well, showing how well he plays off them in order to make the match work even better. Furthermore, and perhaps most importantly, Wyatt showed a surprising amount of stamina that allowed him to make his explosive moves later in the match when many other big wrestlers would have been gassing out. The match was brutal, tough, fun, innovative, full of story and original. Much of what the rest of the card was not.
