4 Ups & 1 Down From Ultima Lucha - Night 3

Downs...

1. Black Lotus vs. Dragon Azteca Jr.

Black Lotus Vs Dragon Azteca Jr

Lucha Underground’s announcers don’t know what happens in the backstage segments. Usually that works out okay, as it would be weird to acknowledge people turning into dragons and skeletons suddenly coming to life. But in this case, it would have been nice if they knew a bit more of the backstory between Lotus and Dragon Azteca.

Considering multiple murders are involved in their storyline, the tone from Striker and Vampiro didn’t really fit what was going on in the ring. Then, there was the in-ring action itself. It was okay, but after what we’d seen from Azteca this season, he deserved a better spotlight match.

The action was fine, but the ending itself also underwhelming as they only battled for a few minutes before Pentagon Dark came in and broke both of their arms. Considering that it was a season long build for this showdown, that came as a pretty big miss.

Another special miss that is potentially deserving of its own slide, is Vampiro admitting that the look on Lotus’ face was turning him on. Good to know I guess.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
