4 Ups & 3 Downs From AEW Rampage (April 20 - Results & Review)

2. That Rough Women’s Match

Emi Sakura Yuka Sakazaki
AEW

Firstly, it's important to mention that Yuka Sakazaki probably got injured during a botched spot on the turnbuckles and ring apron. She took a nasty tumble to ringside, and it appeared Emi Sakura was stalling for time when she started teasing fans with AEW action figures and erm...kissing cans of Ric Flair's energy drink?!

Fingers crossed Yuka is alright, but there's a brutal truth that must be said too.

The match was sloppy even before she took a bad fall to the ringside mats. Something seemed off from the opening bell - Sakazaki never seemed to be on the same page as Sakura, and fans picked up on it immediately. The action was all over the place, and not in a good way. Put plainly, this was not a good first impression of either woman for fans who haven't watched their work before.

If anything, the disjointed scrap brought up painful memories of the AEW women's division of yesteryear. Bored fans, wrestlers who lack story going into their match, botches, and an all-round dull atmosphere. This ticked every box on the worst these matches have to offer.

Yikes.
