4 Ups & 3 Downs From WWE NXT UK (15 April)

1. Change This Up

Nathan Frazer NXT UK
WWE

Out of context, Nathan Frazer vs. Saxon Huxley wasn’t an exceptionally bad match. Huxley worked great as the dominating heel tearing his smaller adversary apart, whereas Frazer was, as always, outstanding as the underdog babyface.

It’s just the same thing we always see from Nathan.

Since coming to NXT UK, the man formerly known as Ben Carter has worked a largely formulaic style. He gets beaten down fairly easily by his typically larger opponent, before mounting a comeback towards the match’s conclusion. It culminated in his win via frog splash, which was preceded by a solid missile dropkick.

Being able to perfectly execute a missile dropkick isn’t enough, though. Nathan Frazer is a cracking performer and is constantly on fire in-ring. If NXT UK programming had a live audience just now, you can guarantee they’d pop for everything he does. If he’s able to continue doing this level of work while working it into a different style of match, then all will be fine.

Another minor Down for Huxley not receiving an entrance here, instead being shown already in the ring when the feed cut to the BT Sports Studio. Isn’t he supposed to be getting built up as this legitimate threat?
