4 Ups & 4 Downs From WWE SmackDown (Feb 23 - Results & Review)

2. The Upside

LA Knight Drew McIntyre

Here's that upside to the main event mentioned earlier.

LA Knight and Drew McIntyre laid it in during their bout. The match wasn't their best (they've got high standards!), and everyone could see the disqualification finish coming a mile off, but both guys worked hard and deserve credit for refusing to go through the motions like this was a house show headliner. That just isn't in their nature as performers.

Knight looks like a million bucks when he's in there vs. WWE's biggest heels, and Drew as a villain is tremendous fun. McIntyre has tweaked some of his work to rely less on crowd-popping comebacks and more on heel sh*thousery. That, ladies and gents, is a switched-on pro wrestler.

It'd be sweet if Triple H fancied revisiting this later in 2024 when Drew is World Champ. That title reign is guesswork from a huge fan, but surely McIntyre's stellar heel work will be rewarded at some point. Fingers crossed we see this on a massive PLE someday.
