4 Ups & 5 Downs From AEW Dark (May 19)

1. Sammy Guevara vs. Alan Angels

Establishing Alan Angels as more than just a job guy will reap benefits for AEW later down the road, when they finally give him a win over someone on their full-time roster. They have done a good job with him so fart, particularly in the Rey Fenix bout, and it continued against Sammy Guevara on Dark.

Angels is still very indie in that his offense largely revolves around speed and strikes. Seasoning will come with practice, however, and he has acquitted himself well in AEW, delivering big against everyone he has faced. Here, he wound Sammy up by calling him a punk at the bell, leading to the opening grappling exchanges, and had Guevara on the deck several times throughout, with 'The Spanish God' coming off like a mean-spirited prick while toying with an opponent who gave him more than he'd bargained for.

Good, solid stuff, and Sammy took the W via GTH.
